The First Things Professional Development committee has been concentrating on providing cross-training for home visitation workers and other direct service and outreach staff. The group is ensuring as many front-line and home visitation employees from various organizations are armed with information to make recommendations for supportive services for Summit County families with children 0 to 5 years of age. Past training has included: Personal Safety in the Workplace & In the Field (104 persons attended), Cultural Competency: Summit County’s Refugee & Deaf Populations (91 persons attended), and The Opiate Epidemic: What the Front-Line Worker Needs to Know (133 persons attended). The committee also focuses on the need to disseminate information about community services so families know where to turn for help.
